Child's Alphabet Quilt

my computer crashed on me , so I haven't updated my blog for quite a while. I finally got my computer to work again..  The last batch of quilts, I made, several were children size. The organization, that I give them to, delivers  them to homeless shelters.
This first one is a prepronted alphabet quilt. It is probably crib size.
The  next is really only half the alphabet, but colorful and warm. You have to work with what you have,
This is a cartoon design.
Tnext bright green, (not my favorite shade of green is made with two  appliqued blocks, that I spotted at a yard sale., with borders built up around it.

I was told by the person that delivered the quilts, she could have used a lot more , for the shelter. I decided , I would make some quick and easy  ones.
I had recently made a queen size quilt with very large star blocks, and had several left. I also had a lot of drapery  material. I just used large pieces around them to make a good sized quilt.
The first one has a pink and green star, with a field of roses around it. I don't think it loks too bad, and should be nice and comfortable.
This is a diaganol scrap quilt, quick and easy, and gets a lot of scraps used up.
I was given a few yards of material, with fish and ocean scenes.. I thought some young child might find it interesting.. I still had a lot of that really bright green, that did go withthe print, so I used that for a backing

The last one in the group, I decided to keep for myself.Besides the fact, that I like the colors. it brings back a lot of memories; A while back, my sister and I,, (we often quilted together) were each making a Cathedral Window Quilt. She made a mistake, and instead of cutting 3 inch squares, she cut  hundreds of 2 inch squares. She gave them to me.. I didn't say anything, but thought , no way am I ever going to sew them together. Every once in a while, I would come across them in my scrap box. One day , I  just wondered how long it would take to sew them little bits together, by machine. It  went surprisingly fast. .My sister, Elly passed away a couple of years ago, and every time, I look at that little quilt, I think of her and all the fun we had growing up. My mother and father had eight children, three boys, and five girls.. Often when anyone hears you are one of eight, they think , you have to fight for your food , don't get any attention ,and probably gifts etc. We certainly didn't get a lot of toys. We had to make our own fun. I have wonderful memories We ,certainly had plenty of food. My father always had a huge garden, and worked sll the time. We didn't appreciate what a nice house we lived in, just took it for granite. All of us, have always been very close, and family oriented.Their are only three of us left. I have lost three brothers and two sisters. We always had someone to call and chat with, and it seems strange now not to have that connection, and my sisters and I miss it.
